Bush fires
24 December 2001 22:15The bush fire is about 40km south of Dubbo, and has burned 500sq.km of national parks and farmlands. The fire has been so intense and fast that cattle and kangaroos are being killed.
It's sad to see a farm where the house has been saved but everything else is a blackened ruin - even the animals. The RSPCA is out there now killing burned sheep, cattle, wombats, kangaroos and so on. They keep running out of bullets.
Yeovil and Eugowra have been evacuated as a precaution
And the saddest part is that politics in National Parks And Wildlife has prevented them from doing a controlled burn for the last 3 years.
