Agincourt on October 25, 1415,

Each English archer could shoot about ten arrows per minute, and there were 5,000 of them - so the French were drenched by a cruel rain of 800 arrows per second. The French lost at least 5,000 soldiers while the English lost fewer than 500.

I wonder if the american single finger came of people with musckes. Index finger along the muzzle for steadying, and then the middle finger to pull the trigger?

Maybe.

It was very interesting to read about that, Den. Just two weeks ago, Brad and I went to Warwick Castle as part of our holiday "up North". We watched a jousting display and then an incredibly funny man dressed like an archer use the long bow very well. He targeted a straw stuffed dummy about 30m away and at the end of his (amazlingly good) display of archery, he called us all close and told us the story of the Battle of Agincourt.

He told it as if he had been there and had us in stitches most of the time. Tis interesting to read that the things he said were so accurate.

When you do England, you'll have to go there.

I've been to Warwick Castle but they only had the static displays inside, no outside gear.

When I was at St Albans the Erime St Guard were there, doing demonstrations of Roman weapons and tactics on the old city of Verulanium.

Very cool!

That would have been very cool.

We hope to go to Dover Castle later on, it sounds very interesting with all the WWII stuff as well as stuff from the Norman times.

Do you know I have applied to doa History degree from Deakin? I should be starting it next year. I love this sort of stuff.

"So if you feel worried about using the 2-finger salute, you could reassure yourself that you are just keeping the rich tradition and heritage of English culture alive!"
