Bushfires and Floods
128 dead, 750 homes gone.
And in other news...
North Queensland is flooding. 2 drowned, 5 year old boy taken by crocodile. 500mm of rain fell on Cairns on Saturday night, and it's still raining.
It's been that kind of week.

it's like the ad from a few years back said...
It's been a right shitter of a week, I'd agree with that. Apparently the heatwave down south has a direct corrilation to the amount of rain we've been having up in FNQ, Something about all the moisture getting ripped out of the air by the aircurrents from down south, and it coming up here for a holiday...
Still, it's a big shitter of a spanner, I don't know where Mother Nature gets 'em, but they're surely the biggest in the universe.
The saddest thing is, I'm expecting the death toll from both these events to increase before the week is done

In general a lot of the perverse (not to say perverted) nature of Australians is directly related to the environment in which we live.
It probably explains a lot about our sense of humour too.

It's just a bit sad when Mother Nature gangs up and hits a region with three or four separate huge weather and natural disasters in rapid succession, without even a breather for everyone to get over the last one.
I should shut up now before the San Andreas Fault hears me. Or one of the scattered moderate rainstorms we've been having parks over the area and the bottom of the cloud drops out. (A little at a time is good, all at once is bad...)
You have to do the only thing you /can/ do: Pick yourself up, Dust yourself off (or dry, as needed), And start all over again.
