Of course, the best-known car enthusiast in the UK writing a pro-car article in a newspaper's car supplement is not at all one-sided. I think the preceding paragraph is more telling, where he basically says that he likes cars because they give him an adrenaline rush.

He obviously makes some good points - the so-caled eco-mentalists are no less annoying than he can be with their insistence that they're right (and you're right, his writing style is great, though he does tend to resort to jingoism rather more than he should). What confuses me, though, is that this is the same person who a couple of years ago wrote a biting imagined future dialogue with his grandchildren about the folly of those "turn of the century" people for using up all the world's oil on things like cars and plastic bags...

As I said, he is an opinionated git. I love watching him on Top Gear. SBS showed the 2004 season here a few months ago, and we'll be seeing to 2005 season soon.

Mmm, Jeremy Clarkson. Even just reading his words, I can hear that deep, jowl-voiced English accent. He really does have one of those voices that just melts me. And then makes me laugh as well...
