True-- most US imports come from Canada, Mexico, and the Americas generally. Still, 20% is 20%. And at the moment we've sold our soul for oil, regardless of where it comes from. Those who sell it, like our good friends the Saudis-- we can't call them to account for their crimes. We need their oil too much.

The Russians say "When money talks, the truth is silent." When it comes to oil, there's a lot of money talking. Oil is a weakness that's devestated our economy, ruined our foreign policy, and made hypocrites of us all.

Not that I expect the President from Exxon to REALLY do anything to cut down our use of oil. Far as he's concerned, the US IS the oil industry. But at least his handlers are having him make the right noises. It's encouraging that somebody at least knows there's a problem.
