Tawny Frogmouth

Head injury caused by magpie attack. He had a scalp injury and I could see the skull through the cut. He was rather subdued when I picked him up, as you would expect, but 3 months R&R at the Owl Lady's farm fixed him, and he was released into the bush.





"Nothing to see here but some dead branches. Move along."

Frogmouths are related to owls and nightjars, and are nocturnal. They're a visual hunter rather than listen for prey like owls, so you see them in open woodlands more than forests.
