I still tend to get poked when I pick up Mr. Bitch. But apparently it works a little better if I bribe him with a piece of chicken flavor snax before I pick him up. At least, he wasn't hissing like a teakettle. :)

Given the relative size difference between an echidna and a hedgie, all I can say is: ouch!
