Around The World In 80 Beers Episode 78: Amsterdam Mariner

And now, a Euro pale lager.

Amsterdam Mariner

Pours a pale amber. Looks a bit fizzy in the glass. A big bubbly head that fades to a thin lacing.

First sip: A slightly sweet grainy malt that fades to slight sourness and a mildly bitter hops. Mouth-feel is a little thin, and a bit fizzy.

Not bad but a bit bland. It would make a good session beer in the pub. If I were going to drink a macrolager I'd drink something local - Tooheys New, for example - instead of paying import price for what is essentially the same type of lager. Oh, it's not a bad beer, it simply isn't worth the price you pay for imported beers.
